I knew when I was getting married that I wanted to take my husband’s last name. Of course, I’ll always be a Bumstead at heart – and the name has served me just fine over the years, despite the odd snicker and some fairly uncreative name-calling.
But changing your name is more challenging than I thought – especially when you’re in the field of writing, and you’ve spent years of your unmarried life trying to build your brand and get your name out there. I live in a world controlled by Google, author tags, and search optimization. And I have to admit, I’m a little afraid of the change.
But change is good, right?
I like to think so. I’ve been making the transition one small step at a time. First, it was my Facebook profile. Then my Instagram. You know, the important stuff. Now, it’s starting to get a bit more real. I decided to really take a leap forward – and leave charlottebumstead.ca behind. Welcome to Charlotte’s Web of Words. A new name, a new design… but still the same girl with the same passion and drive.
I’m excited to re-focus and really get back into blogging. And I’m going to try to switch things up a bit. You can read all about it on my About page. I’ve also updated my Portfolio with some of my more recent work. Feel free to look around. And don’t forget to connect with me on Facebook and Twitter. I’d love to hear from you.
